BRB TTYL ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you use BRB TTYL:

• Account Information: When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture as provided by your authentication provider.
• Username: A username you choose within the app.
• Status Information: Your availability status (e.g., "available" or "grounded") and the time it was last updated.
• Friend Connections: Information about your friend connections within the app.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide and maintain the app's core functionality
• Display your status to your connected friends
• Send push notifications about friend status changes
• Improve and optimize the app experience

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Your status is only visible to friends you have accepted within the app. We may share data with:

• Service Providers: We use Supabase for backend services and data storage.
• Authentication Providers: Apple and Google for sign-in purposes.
• Optional Sharing: If you choose to share your status to Snapchat or other platforms, that sharing is initiated by you and governed by those platforms' privacy policies.

Children's Privacy (COPPA)

BRB TTYL is intended for teenagers and complies with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent.

Information we collect from children

For any account belonging to a child under 13, we collect only the limited information needed to operate the app: the name and email provided by the Apple or Google sign-in, a chosen username, an optional profile picture, the user's availability status, friend connections, and (if enabled) a device push-notification token. We do not collect precise location, and we do not require children to disclose more information than is reasonably necessary to use the app.

Parental consent

Before a child under 13 can use BRB TTYL, we require consent from a parent or legal guardian. We use the child's account information only to provide the service and to send status notifications to the child's accepted friends. We do not condition a child's participation on disclosing more information than is necessary, and we do not sell or share children's information for advertising.

Parental rights

As the parent or guardian of a child who uses BRB TTYL, you have the right to:

• Review the personal information we have collected from your child;
• Request that we correct or delete your child's personal information;
• Refuse to permit further collection or use of your child's information; and
• Revoke your consent and close your child's account at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at parents@brbttyl.app. To verify your identity and protect your child, we may ask you to confirm the email address associated with the child's account before acting on a request. We will respond within a reasonable time and at no charge.

Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission, secure authentication, and row-level security policies on our database.

Data Retention and Account Deletion

You can permanently delete your account at any time from Edit Profile → Delete Account inside the app. Deleting your account immediately and permanently removes your profile, username, status, friend connections, friend requests, profile picture, and push-notification tokens from our active systems. This action cannot be undone.

We retain your information only for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Residual copies may persist in encrypted backups for a limited period before being overwritten, and we may retain limited records where required to comply with legal obligations. Parents may also request deletion of a child's account by emailing parents@brbttyl.app.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your account and data
• Opt out of push notifications

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the "Last updated" date.
